About CAMP
California Alliance for Minority Participation
in Science, Engineering, and Mathematics
Funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF), CAMP represents the California arm of the Louis Stokes Alliance for Minority Participation (LSAMP) program that aims to increase the number of under-represented/economically disadvantaged students graduating with bachelor's degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. CAMP is hosted on eight of the UC campuses, with the lead campus for the California Alliance centered at UC Irvine (CAMP Statewide).
At UC Davis:
- CAMP provides monetary support to undergraduate students in the form of research stipends for work conducted under the direction of a UC Davis faculty member. This is facilitated by the supplementation of pre-existing undergraduate research program budgets. The research programs include Biology Undergraduate Scholars Program; Mentorships and Opportunities for Research In Engineering ; Mentorships for Undergraduate Researchers in Agriculture, Letters and Science; and Mentorships for Undergraduate Research Participants in the Physical and Mathematical Sciences.
- CAMP provides travel support for students to present their work at research and career conferences off campus such as American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Annual Meeting, Society for Advancement of Chicanos and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), and others. For more information, contact an advisor at the Undergraduate Research Center.
